Electrocom Solutions is pleased to announce that it has been appointed for the communications infrastructure for the Dame Phyliss Frost Centre prison expansion. The project consists of a Molex Category 6A copper network with significant fibre optic infrastructure to the new and existing prison.
The Community Safety Building Authority is upgrading and increasing capacity at the Dame Phyllis Frost Centre. The new buildings have been designed to increase access and engagement with rehabilitation programs and help female prisoners transition back into the community following their release.
The project will deliver 106 new beds, enabling unsuitable accommodation to be decommissioned, as well as supporting infrastructure including:
New reception
New multi-purpose buildings
Expanded legal and telecourt facilities.
This upgrade forms part of the government’s $1.8 billion investment in the 2019-20 Budget to provide flexible prison capacity, deliver programs to break the cycle of reoffending and keep people out of prison.
The Dame Phyllis Frost Centre (DPFC) is one of two women’s prisons in Victoria and is located 26 km north-west of Melbourne in the suburb of Ravenhall. The facility accommodates a range of female prisoners including women with mental health conditions, cognitive impairment disabilities and young children who have been approved to live with their mothers
We look forward to working with ADJ to deliver another successful project with completion in 2022.
